Three famous myths busted

There has been various stories that are considered true but the fact is they are never verified. We are starting a new series on our blog where we will bring the authenticity of the real facts and uncover some behind the scenes of these stories that we have been listening over the years. We are basically inspired from the Myth Busters series from the discovery channel, if you have no idea about it, here is thelink.

So today we are busting three myths.

1. Stars can be seen from well during day time.
2. Australia was discovered by Captain Cook.
3. Light bulb was invented by Thomas Edison.

Can stars be viewed from the bottom of a well during the daytime?

At daytimes, it is impossible to see the stars with a naked eye and it has been said since decades that the stars can be seen during daytimes if you try to see them from the bottom of the well. Its answer is a big “NO”. They can’t be viewed because the scattered sunlight doesn’t allows the human eye to view the Stars during daytimes. The only possibility to see the stars at daytimes is to use a high-ranged telescope.

Was Australia discovered by Captain Cook?

Another famous myth in the list is about Captain’s Cook discovery of Australia but according to the studies, Australia was discovered by the Dutchmen Abel Tasman and Dirk Hartog. In fact, it was a re-discovery, not a discovery because Australia was already discovered by indigenous Australians some 50,000 years ago.

Was the light bulb invented by Thomas Edison?

With 1093 patents in United States, Edison is known as one of the greatest inventors of all times. It has been said that most of his inventions were not originally his work but his technicians, the Electric Light Bulb was one of these inventions. In fact, it was invented by an English scientist Sir Humphry Davy but that bulb’s life was just 12 hours. Later after four decades, Edison made hundreds of experiments and finally made a long-lasting Electric Light Bulb.
