Love in the time of monsoon

Stark
In Delhi, it’s lovely weather, but in other parts of the country, the monsoon is still going strong. And you’re standing at your window, looking at the streets which are a river of slush, and wondering how anyone can have a happy romance in all that. Well, Bollywood has been prescribing the romance of the rains for ages, and you shouldn’t lag behind. Here are some tips on how to make the most of the monsoon, in style.
1) Gumboots. Wellies. Whatever you call them, these rubber boots are indispensible for the rainy season. Not only do they keep your feet dry—and no one likes cold feet—they also are very stylish and will go perfectly with any attire. Remember, if you’re going somewhere nice after, to pack a pair of shoes in your handbag, so you can easily change, and slip your boots under the table.
2) Umbrellas. Rihanna sang about someone staying under her umbrella-ella-ella, and anyone who’s had to share an umbrella knows that there’s only one way to stand under it so both of you don’t get wet. Let the taller person hold the umbrella, and then make them put one arm around you. There you are! It’s a perfect cuddle excuse, and you’ll be hoping it stays wet for a long time.
3) Food. Okay, so bhutta sticks in your teeth, but there are loads of romantic foods you can eat during the monsoon. Hot pakodas for instance. Or ginger tea. Nothing says love like someone making you tea when it’s miserable outside.
4) Car rides. If you’re lucky enough to have a car, then you should know how gorgeous it is to go for long drives when it’s raining outside. Just put on some of your favourite romantic music to set the mood, or something fun and jumpy that you can both sing along to, and before you know it, you’re having a perfect date.
5) DVDs. Too wet to go to the movie theatre? Make it easier on yourself and your date, by inviting them over to watch movies. And no, we don’t mean “watch movies”. Pick some old favourites, a comedy or a romance, snuggle up with popcorn and it’s much better than going to the actual cinema.
