As fun as the opposite sex is, sometimes it’s really important to spend time with the people who really matter: your girlfriends. They’ve seen you at your highest highs and your lowest lows, with braces and pimples, broken hearted and celebratory, and they deserve to spend some quality time with you as well. Here are our tips to make your girls night out truly memorable:
1) Leave the phones at home! In today’s day and age, we can’t take a single step without our smart phones always beeping, indicating a new message or email or BBM. For a truly bonding evening, switch your phones off, or promise yourselves that you’ll only check them once every three hours.
2) Figure out before you leave the house what you most want to talk about. If you have a large group of friends, sometimes not everyone gets a chance to be heard. Think of the top five things you’ve been meaning to talk about and bring them up in conversation. A “conversational agenda” may not sound very spontaneous, but you will get loads of rewards from it.
3) No boys allowed. That means husbands, boyfriends, crushes, brothers, cousins, everyone has to be left at home. Sorry, gentlemen, this is a night just for the girls.
4) It’s better to stay in than go out. It’s true. Nothing like chilling with a group of friends on a couch, with lots of snacks and no one breathing over your shoulder telling you that it’s last order, or that you have to pay up and leave now. In someone’s home, you have the added advantage of being able to show up in your most comfy clothes, no one cares if you haven’t had a leg wax that week.
5) What happens on a girls night stays in the girls night. No one loves a blabbermouth. Remember, people like to spill their deepest darkest secrets to their closest friends, and if you’re going to update your Facebook status with something like, “OMG! Kiran totally loves Varun!” you can rest assured that you’re not getting a return invitation. Respect people and their secrets.
You don’t need too many tips for a successful evening with friends–just good company, and the fact that you are all together should make it a fabulous night anyway.
